A New Year’s Day polar bear plunge is an annual tradition shared by communities around the country and the world. The Corpus Christi Polar Bear Plunge is our local take on the tradition! We have teamed up with the Corpus Christi Roadrunners to offer a warm-up fun run at 11:15 on the Corpus Christi Beachwalk, followed by the plunge at 12 noon. After the plunge, you’re invited to warm up under the heat lamps and stick around for lunch at Fajitaville.
The events are free. Items will be available for purchase – polar bear hats & hoodies on site, food at Fajitaville, and souvenir clothing available in adult and kids’ sizes in the event’s online store. The polar bear mascot and banner will be around for photos before the plunge. The Corpus Christi Polar Bear Plunge was started to raise awareness and funds to cure ALS. If you’re able, please make a contribution via the event web site to the nonprofit ALS Therapy Development Institute: https://www.polarbearplunge.cc/
