What Do I Want For Mother’s Day? To Be Left The Heck Alone

0

Just like all the moms here, I love my kid more than anything. He is the best part of my day.

I stay at home with him, and we are together pretty much 24/7.

I love my husband as well. He is the man who makes me laugh, provides for us, gave me my son and completes my life. I can’t wait to see him when he gets home.

However, by nature, I comfortable with being alone.

I crave solitude and quiet. I like not having to talk sometimes. So when my husband asked me what I wanted for my first Mother’s Day, I said take the kid and leave me alone for a whole day. And that’s what he did.

I was served breakfast in bed and given the cutest artwork from my son. Then my man took little boy and got lost.

It was glorious. I drank wine, watched three movies I had been wanting to see, read, napped, stayed in my pajamas all day and had lots of snacks. No laundry, no cooking, no cleaning, no sharing the TV, no bath time, no grocery shopping. Even when they came home, hubby got little guy to bed and let me be.

That’s been my Mother’s Day for the last three years. I look forward to the Sunday in May that is mine all mine. Don’t get me wrong, I have time to myself. But it’s usually an hour or so, maybe two on any given day.

Mother’s Day is a solid 12 hours of me time. It’s like a mini-vacation.

Does that make me selfish? I don’t think so. Afterwards, I feel refreshed, recharged and reconnected with myself, which make me a better mother and wife.

If you’re a mom that wants to be celebrated on Mother’s Day with flowers and dinner out and being surrounded by your children and family, that is awesome. You can have my restaurant reservation and roses.

I will be at home with my Netflix and myself. Peace!
