For me – between the ages of 9 and 13- I spent a week each summer away at summer camp, and toasting marshmallows at a camp fire was always a huge highlight of the week.

marshmallowTo celebrate today I wanted to share my top five ways that my family and I enjoy eating toasted marshmallows.

5. Marshmallow covered Brownies:

This is an easy way to change up your typical brownie treat! Once you have baked your brownies as normal, top them with crushed graham cracker and marshmallows and put it back in the oven for 3 minutes. You can even use the broiler to give them the toasted look on top.

Droooling…in fact, brb, going to make brownies STAT.

4. Chocolate Covered Marshmallows:

I was trying to find a way to make a s’more treat that was not as messy to eat for a party, and I came up with the chocolate covered toasted marshmallows. What I did was toast some marshmallows, while it was still pretty warm I coated it with some crushed graham cracker, then once it has cooled for a bit I covered it with melted chocolate. Put them in the fridge to let the chocolate harden and served them. Gives the chocolate covered marshmallow a little more flavor and is not as messy as trying to let everyone make their own s’mores.

3. Chocolate Ice Cream with Marshmallow:

I love adding toasted marshmallows to my chocolate ice cream, it is like eating Rocky Road without the nuts. So simple. So delicious. Just do it.

2. Peppermint Hot Chocolate with Marshmallow:

I know everyone is about to go nuts over pumpkin spice, but my favorite holiday flavor is peppermint! I love adding a little peppermint and toasted marshmallow to my hot chocolate on a cold Texas winter night. (and for us here in the coastal bend that is normally whenever it drops below 70 degrees)

1. S’mores:

This list would not be complete without the tried and true classic S’more. Gathering family and friends around a firepit making S’mores is one of my all-time favorite fall evening activities. As the weather cools and we start to spend more time outdoors I will make sure to have plenty of Marshmallows, Graham Crackers, and Hershey’s.
