My Top 5 Favorite Fall Movies (that you can watch at home).

0

I am a movie connoisseur, I’ve seen a lot of movies (not every movie ever, but working on it!) And now that it is officially Fall, I am ready to cozy up on the couch and watch a movie (or two).

Now you are probably thinking why should I listen to this lady’s recommendations? Well I’ve never counted the exact number, but I have a collection of movie stubs dating back to middle school/high school. It’s a hobby I enjoy by myself or with family/friends. It’s easy to get lost in a good movie. I chose five movies I thought represent Fall well and are family friendly.

Coco
Not only do I love this Pixar movie because it is about Día de los Muertos, but I it focuses on Mexican characters, explaining traditions and the culture. My daughter and my little nephew adore this movie. The soundtrack is beautiful and it’s a must watch during the Fall season.

The Nightmare Before Christmas
Okay… so technically some people argue this can also be a Christmas movie, but it is a Halloween movie too. I’ll let you in on a tidbit, I was born the day before Halloween, so I have always been all about Halloween. This Tim Burton movie is an instant classic. The first time my daughter saw it she couldn’t stop singing “This is Halloween!”

The Book of Life
This movie by 20th Century Fox, can be compared to Coco, except it deals less with Día de los Muertos and focuses more on the Mexican characters and Mexican folklore/lifestyle. The story is intriguing with catchy songs. Not to mention the voices of Channing Tatum, Ice Cube and Zoe Saldana.

Addams Family Values
Maybe you’re not into animated movies, they’re not for everyone. How about an oldie but goodie? What says Fall more than the Addams Family? They have the spooky Halloween vibe going on. I suggest it for the older kids and adults who have a darker sense of humor (rated PG-13). I laugh every time I watch the scene where they act out the first Thanksgiving.

Hocus Pocus
I saved the best for last. I’m not sure what it was about the 90s, but three of the movies on my list all came out the same year. Coincidence…maybe? If you haven’t seen this adorable Disney classic well just tune in to the Freeform channel during October. They have 31 Nights of Halloween and show this movie several times. It stars Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy as the Sanderson sisters. Witches out to lure all the children to their doom… dun, dun, dun. It is delightful and fun, I loved it as a kid I watch it every year.

I hope you enjoy one or all of these movies. If you or your family have some favorite FALL movies of your own tell me about them. I’d love to add them to my list.
