LOVE BUGS! A FUN MINI VALENTINE’S DAY CRAFT

Valentine’s Day is getting close guys, and to tell you the truth, it is my absolute most favorite holiday!! (Like, more than Christmas!) I love all the heart shaped candies, the flowers, and all the red and pink colors, but my most favorite thing is watching my kids get home from school with all their Valentine’s Day snacks and treats! It is truly heart warming for them to feel so much love and kindness from their class room friends and teachers.

As a working mom, I always try and look for an easy yet fun craft we can work on together so my kids can share the love on Valentine’s Day.

VALENTINES CRAFTSo today I wanted to share a mini craft we made for my daughter’s kindergarten class. It’s not only easy to make with minimal materials, but they are so super cute!

LOVE BUGS : VALENTINE CRAFT

Here’s how to make your very own Love Bugs!

Materials:

  • DifferLOVE BUGS : VALENTINE DIYent flavors of individual applause cups (pudding snack packs and jello packs work just fine too!)
  • Wiggly eyes
  • Pom poms
  • Pipe cleaners
  • Heart confetti (the jumbo kind… I found them at Wal-Mart in the Valentine’s Day section for 98 cents!)
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Hot glue gun

Start off by cutting the pipe cleaners in half. (They don’t have to be perfectly even.) Then, take the pencil and wrap the pipe cleaner around to create a curly cue. Pull the curly cue off and do the next one, and so on and so on. Then, take the pom poms and  hot glue them to the top of each curly cue. These are going to be the little antennas. Set these aside.

Now you want to take an applesauce and make sure that it’s upside down. Using the hot glue, glue the wiggly eyes  on the  side where there is no writing or expiration date. At the top glue two pipe cleaner antennas with even space in between.

For the final step: Take the jumbo heart confetti and glue to the bottom of the applesauce. Leave space to the top of the heart and it looks like little feet. I had small heart confetti that was mixed in with the bigger hearts and i used them for the top of the antennas when i ran out of pom poms.

In total it took me about an hour to make. Plus I had a lot of little helping hands. Our next step is to individually wrap them in a clear bag, add string and a valentines card with each class mate’s name.

Here are our lovely finished products and proud faces!

I hope that this gives you a little Valentines inspiration if your stuck in a craft rut!

Hugs and Kisses!!
