My youngest three children are summer babies (June, July, and August.) So, instead of doing individual parties for each of them, I decided to do one big birthday bash for all three of them!!! It was a first for me and it was a ton of fun! So, here are some helpful tips I’ve learned if you would like to do the same thing.
— Pick a Theme. This is certainly optional, but it’s fun if you do. I picked a BOUNCE theme because I knew I wanted a bouncy house to entertain the kids, and it was gender neutral theme since the celebration was for my two daughters and one of my sons. I also kept the colors gender neutral (blue, green and teal).
— Order Invitations. I ordered our invitations online, but if you are crafty and want to make your own, you certainly can. You could even buy birthday invitations at the store! Ordering online was just easier for me! I ended up ordering 40 invitations with return address labels to match, and yes, I sent out ALL 40 INVITES to friends and family members. But don’t worry. Not everyone showed up.
— Have the event catered. When I said I wanted to make this as easy as possible, I meant it! I ordered our favorite local BBQ, the chopped beef sandwiches our kids love with chips and fruit as sides. Everyone loved the sandwiches and we had leftovers so momma didn’t have to cook the next day!
— Rent a bounce house. This was an important element to the party. We had the rental early in the day even though the party wasn’t until late afternoon, so my kiddos played in it almost the entire day! We also rented a tent for added shade, which was a huge hit with the adults! We had other games (bean bag toss, bubble station, etc.) but the kids were entertained with the bouncy house almost the entire time. Definitely worth the rental cost.
— Smash Cakes. I have always wanted to do this with my kiddos, so since I had minimal work to do for the party, I decided to make their smash cakes. I actually had a fun time doing it! I kept the cakes really simple. I was going to do a gigantic cupcake, but it was HUGE, so I decided to cut the recipe in half and it worked out perfectly! I kept it simple and used the themed colors I had.
— Have Fun. The day of the party, just remember to have fun. I know we can get all stressed about the details, but what matters most at the end of the day is if your children had fun and if you rejoiced and enjoyed right alongside them. That is what they will remember.
