Fastest way to a clean oven

Ugh cleaning the oven is my least favorite activity IN.THE. WORLD!

It is sticky and greasy and it takes FOREVER! I know, I know most ovens now have the self cleaning option but that stinks up the house for a few hours and at the end it is just not as clean as I would like it to be.

Granted I always go as long as possible before cleaning it. I hate cleaning it that much!

Ever since I remember I’ve been on the lookout for the easiest, fastest, and most effective way to clean the oven.

I tried the spray cleaner, yuck the smell of the spray alone is enough to keep me away. Another time I tried the baking soda and vinegar thing and it was HORRIBLE! The baking soda made a big mess and it took forever to clean it.  Of course I already mentioned the self-cleaning setting on the stove but I did not love it.

Finally I found THE BEST and FASTEST way to clean it!

A few weeks ago I searched “best tub and shower cleaner” and I found that vinegar and Dawn dish soap would do the trick! I sprayed the tubs, let it sit for a bit and scrub lightly. Magic! It got rid of all the soap build up super fast! My husband commented on how much cleaner the showers felt (not that I hadn’t cleaned I was just never able to get it SO CLEAN with so little scrubbing).

Anyway, that got me thinking. I wondered if this would work on the oven and to my surprise IT DID!

It took me about an hour, yes the oven was filthy BUT I sprayed it down with a mix of  about equal parts vinegar and Dawn. I let it sit for a few minutes, I sprayed water and went over it with steel wool. I soaked the racks in a big tub with the same mixture and scrubbed them too. The oven was squeaky clean in under an hour.

No stink, no hard scrubbing, no more nasty oven! Now that I have this down I won’t be dreading cleaning the oven so next time it will probably only take me half the time!

I know I can’t be the only one waiting till it is absolutely necessary to clean the oven! Hope this helps!

What is the thing you least like to clean? Do you have any tricks to make it faster and better?
