Valentine’s Day is, for some reason, a very love it or hate it kind of holiday! Maybe because it feels too forced or made up? I’m not sure. I believe that every Holiday has been in some way created to increase sales and during every holiday we are pushed to buy more. It seems to get worse every year. There are even Halloween slippers! But, for some reason Valentine’s Day gets a lot of bad rap. I don’t know.
Anyway.
I am a firm believer in doing what feels right for you and, above all, what you and your family enjoy!
I LOVE Valentine’s Day and this is why: I LOVE LOVE LOVE to give presents, especially to the people I love! I will use any excuse to get a gift I think they will enjoy. I get excited picking it out, wrapping it, and thinking of the excitement they will feel when they get it!
So, last year I started one of my favorite traditions on Valentine’s Day!
I put out three boxes, one for each of my boys with their names on it. I printed punny little cards and got small presents to match the puns! I had so much fun picking out the little presents to match the cards and they loved waking up every morning from February 1st to the 14th to some “mail” from Mommy!
On Valentine’s day I gave them a bigger present, it was so much fun! It wasn’t expensive or too elaborate but we all loved it! I am already getting excited about this year! I am going to make them actual mail boxes out of wood and maybe keep them up year round to put little notes and stuff once in a while!
In my opinion, any excuse to celebrate and show love is a good excuse. It doesn’t have to be a “made up Holiday” like some call it but it also doesn’t have to not be. Did that make sense? It did in my head! LOL
