Valentine's Day

Don’t get me wrong when I was in school, I loved Valentine’s Day as much as any other kid. I mean what’s not to love, candy, cards, schoolValentine's Day party. Now I am the mom of the kids who have to bring the Valentine’s Day card mail box, which ends up being an unspoken competition about who can come up with the most creative homemade Valentine box! If you don’t believe me go on Pinterest and search, you will see Minions, Alligators and Unicorns OH MY! Then you have the school party that you have to bring a treat for and THEN there are the actual valentines! Pro Tip: I buy new valentines’ cards once they go on sale after Valentine’s day. For example, I have had this year’s cards since last February.

Don’t get me wrong if my husband sends or brings me flowers, I am grateful but as the chief financial officer of the house I then get to see everything spent on those flowers clear the account. And If I’m being honest, I would rather see those funds go to savings, or have a bill paid because now when I look at the pretty flowers all I see is the money spent. Even if my husband is off since most of our babysitters have their own Valentine’s Day plans, we can’t sneak away to have a date even if we wanted to.

Basically, in my life, Valentine’s Day has become a regular day that ends in kids being high on sugar and me hiding their bags of candy on the top of the pantry so I can be their sugar dealer for the next week.

How do you feel about Valentine’s Day, do you love it like my fellow CCMB Contributor ? Do you celebrate as a family, or do you and your husband get to have a romantic date every year ?
