A review of A Christmas Carol at the Harbor Playhouse

2

A Christmas Carol at the Harbor Playhouse  is giving us all the holiday feels! My entire family attended opening weekend, and from a 1st grader to Grandma and Grandpa, it was a double thumbs up from everyone!

From the beginning you are transported into an Old English Christmas season full of joy and wonder! And then…

Bah Humbug!!!

That old Mr. Scrooge! Played by Todd Jones, Scrooge is a total grouch in the best way possible!

We all agreed the Frank Garcia Jr. was amazing as the Ghost of Christmas Present.

The little toy soldiers and the dance core were so fun to watch! They were all in sync and there was so much attention to detail in the performance. Obviously from my pictures I am especially proud of a certain cast member: my niece Naomi Henderson in her first production with the playhouse!

I could go on and on, I wish I could mention everyone – the entire cast of A Christmas Carol was so good! The whole play was amazing and all the late nights of practice really showed through in the opening night performance!

Following the classic tale from the story book that I remember well it held my attention from the moving set design to the talented actors and actresses. Even my children were captivated and engaged the entire performance. They especially loved the children on stage performing before their eyes! It made the story realistic and captivating with lots of singing and dancing. I looked over to see the whole family grinning from ear to ear. My daughter was dancing in her seat and singing along as well. The costumes were very nice and perfect for the time period in which the play is set. We felt as if we were apart of the show in moments of crowd interaction and actors throughout the aisles.

This is a must see for the holiday season. A little birdie told me this is the last time they are doing a Christmas Carol for some time, so do not miss out. The kids enjoyed it so much we actually ordered it for Family movie night : Christmas Edition. Get it from Amazon here.

The Harbor Playhouse really pulled stops and get into the spirit of the season with a beautifully decorated lobby and they even have festive holiday drinks on the menu! The play will be running through December 15th get all the “deets” and schedule here.

 Last warning…

Spoiler Alert:

Don’t sit any children who could be easily frightened by a ghostly presence near the aisle seats.

If you sit in the first 4 rows you will get a nice surprise near the end of the play!

There is a 15 minute intermission halfway through if you need a potty break or snacks.

I would encourage sitting near the rear House right if your little’s have a weak bladder to be closest to the restroom the line gets long and the house will be packed!

Enjoy your night at the Playhouse, it will be a holiday experience to remember!
