I don’t even know how to start this post, but I know it will help another family.
My husband is a local business owner, which means no paid time off, no vacation or holiday pay, and no sick leave. He is the main source of income for our family. Meaning, he still has to work during the quarantine. It’s such a tricky time for us because we are all being forced to stay indoors. We have a 2-year-old and a 5-month old that depend on us for basic survival needs.
I assure you, that his business is taking the proper precautions to ensure everyone’s safety.
But this is how are we handling outside germs from entering our home:
- My husband comes in through our garage and removes his shoes outside.
- He comes in and changes his clothes automatically and washes his hands before he gets all the cuddles and kisses from the boys.
- I follow right behind and spray down door handles, light switches and just common areas where things are touched on a regular basis.
- Before bed, couches, doors, and play areas are Lysol’d down for everyone’s sake.
This has become our new normal to avoid anyone getting sick and lowering anxiety when dealing with the outside germs.
I hope this will help or give some insight on how you can cope with you or your spouse working during this time.
Please remember we are all in this TOGETHER. If you have any recommendations other than the ones listed above that maybe your family is following, I would love to hear. Or if this has helped you, I’d love to hear as well.
Also please know that Corpus Christi Moms Blog is here to offer resources and our personal advice to get through this tough time.
While we are home, don’t see this as a burden. See this as a blessing to spend more intentional time with your family. Get to know them again.
I’ll leave you with this, I asked my toddler what he wanted to be when he grew up, mind you he’s 2 years old. He told me he wanted to be a Mayor and a firefighter. This little boy is so young but so ambitious.
