There is nothing better than a sweet treat in the heat of the summer in the Coastal Bend.

Days have become longer, children are out for the summer, and sometimes, you just want a little break to be able to relax and indulge. Many of us parents look for opportunities to explore the city and get our treat on when we can, and because there are so many of us like this, we created a list to help you out when the next craving hits. Here are my top five favorite places to get a sweet treat in the Coastal Bend!

{This is list is not sponsored, just some of my favorite spots!}

5 Best Places to Get a Sweet Treat in Corpus Christi

5. Fresco (Downtown) :

As a parent of a toddler, I wanted to start out by sharing a place that has sweet treats that just so happen to be a little healthy (at least by my low-bar of standards). Fresco is a newer downtown up-and-coming snack shop that specializes in delicious Mexican-inspired foods, including fruit snacks! No, I am not talking about the basic chopped up fruit we can all grab from the produce section of the grocery store, I am talking about fruit cups with a tangy twist, smoothies, bowls, and more. If your child didn’t like fruit before, don’t worry, these snacks will win them over. If you are still not convinced, they also serve ice cream. This shop is conveniently located on N. Chaparral so you are steps away from discovering downtown and the many events that they host.

4. Janet’s Cakery (Southside)

There are many things I could live without in this world, but one thing I could not is chocolate, and most individuals would agree. Chocolate is the power-house of sweet delectables, and Janet’s Cakery uses it so well with their turtle brownies. If you are a chocolate-lover like myself, then you can not miss a chance to snack on these. Don’t worry if you have a mixed variety of family with you they also have a healthy amount of different speciality cakes, cookies, and treats to choose.  Janet’s Cakery is a staple in the community and has been locally owned for over thirty years. You can find them located on Everhart Rd inside The Market shopping center.

3. Crescendo Cafe (Southside)

If you want to take your sweet treat exploration to the next level, then you need to stop in to the Crescendo Cafe. This fairly new shop showcases many different levels of nitro treat ice creams and frozen yogurt that are not only fun to watch be made, but are also delicious. You can find them on the first corner coming off of SPID and S.Staples  right across from Moore Plaza.

2. A La Mode Gelateria (The Island & Flour Bluff)

There is no denying it, it has been a very hot summer. Beat the heat and come across the bridge to the island and visit the A La Mode Gelateria secondary location. This cute little joint serves up homemade gelato that come in a variety of different flavors made with fresh ingredients. Available in cup, waffle cone, and also in a take-home pint. If you are not wanting to drive all the way out to the island location, no worries, A La Mode is also tucked inside the Flour Bluff HEB so you can grab a treat while you shop.

1. JB’s German Bakery (The Island)

JB's German Bakery & Cafe : Corpus Christi Moms Blog : Sweet TreatsAs an islander myself, I may be just a little partial of sharing the last two options of sweet treats, but if you are a local of our area you would know that this is undeniably one of the best places to get the most variety of sweet treats. This bakery does it all: cookies, sweet breads, cakes, pies, meringue, and so much more. If you are planning a trip out to the beach, swing by here, you will not regret it. You can find this just past the Whitecap Blvd. intersection on the island.
