Corpus Christi

Hi, I’m Lesley! I am a Corpus Christi native. My mother, Joanne, raised my older sister, younger brother, and myself on the southside of town. After graduating from Carroll High School, I left Texas and lived in Columbus, Ohio to attend college at The Ohio State University (Go Bucks!). Ohio is my home away from home. I was destined to be a Buckeye as it’s my mother’s alma mater and where her side of the family lives. My sister also is a Buckeye and we shared a house while we lived in Columbus. While at OSU I earned a bachelor’s degree in anthropological sciences with minors in public health and forensic science.

I loved living closer to family, but the snow was not for me and I found myself back in Texas. I attended graduate school at Texas A&M College Station and completed a Master of Public Health degree in epidemiology. During my time at A&M, my little brother decided to be an Aggie and we shared a house while in College Station. I think it is so cool to have shared college experiences and school traditions with both my sister and brother.

I eventually found my way back to Corpus Christi where I met and married my wonderful husband Mat. Mat works as an operator at a refinery and since graduate school, I have spent my time building my career in healthcare. I currently work as a quality analyst at a local hospital. I also am an adjunct professor at a local university teaching a course in epidemiology. My favorite role thus far however is a newer role, and that’s the role of being mom!

Since having my daughter, balancing a full-time job and teaching definitely keeps me busy, but my favorite moments are those spent with my family.

Moms

My husband and I have one beautiful daughter named Grace who recently turned one. She is the center of our universe. We are also parents to our four-legged children, a Great Dane mix named Lily and a cat named Che (who also happens to be Grace’s best friend…luckily, he is a very chill cat).

I am a very sentimental person and I love spending my free time making memories with my family. Mat and I are blessed to have both our parents in Corpus Christi so that Grace has all of her favorite people nearby. I love watching each of our families teach her and support her in her growth. I look forward to sharing our family’s growth with the Corpus Christi Mom’s Blog.

Blog

I joined Corpus Christi Mom’s Blog in spring 2019 as a contributor. I think it is so important to surround yourself with fun-loving and kind people that can help shape you into a better person. I am fortunate to know women like this who have been supportive to me in my journey into motherhood and I look forward to growing with the Blog and connecting to other moms in the Coastal Bend.
